Saying good-bye to an unforgettable pair
It was quite a dificult morning as I had to bury two very special friends of mine. Elliott and his sister Noni were both laid to rest this morning along side their former cagemate, Scarlett, who died back in November. Both Elliott and Noni came home with me at roughly one week of age from a pet store where they were intended to be feeder pups for a customer's young snake. The customer who ordered them never came to pick up the babies and so I rescued the cold, blind and hungry babies from a slow death of starvation. I hand raised them myself with much love and effort, plenty of baby food, and lots of smiles. Elliott was neutered at 4 months of age and returned to life with his sister along with his new aunties, Scarlett and Pixie. Brother and sister were very bonded to each other throughout their lives and now that they are both gone together, they will be sadly missed. Thank you, Dr. Martin for your all of your help and care and in making their passing as peaceful as possible. Good-bye my sweet babies. Aunt Pixie won't be far behind. Elliott aka "Bubby" and Noni, R.I.P 8/03-4/1/05
As children our family had pet rats. We started with Ralf and Rachel. Then this grew to quite a brood. When Ralf and Rachel passed they were missed, as were all of our dogs, cats, fish, as any family member would be. These were all great learning experiences. Best wishes and condolences over your loss.
Thank you for your response. It was very hard letting them go. We bonded so much from the time they were just little babies. They were part of my original group of my first pet rats and now I only have one old girl Pixie left besides the 4 babies. I don't believe I will be getting any more rats for awhile as my living situation has changed drastically over the past couple months and will continue to do so before i finally get settled, hopefully by next year. But until then, Vianne the cat is plenty willing to help me out around here :)
Note: Due to the large amount of chaos in my life currently, I will not have time to update this main page on a regular basis. I have changed my settings so that only one blog post will be seen on the main page at a time.
This way you won't be seeing a string of old posts taking up space on here. They are not deleted. You can simply view them in the archives. So if it appears that I have not been around for awhile, I'm still here, just haven't had time
for adding new blogs. I will, however, be trying to keep up with the Furry Friends Forum, so I'll see you in there!
Purrs and Bruxes,

The Cats 'n Rats Mascots
Elliott blessed my life as a tiny one week old pup several years ago. I hand-raised him and we shared a very special bond. He will forever remain, not only one of my favorite rats, but also a favorite pet as well. Read his story in my April 2, 2005 post of his obituary.
Vianne decided to own me back in January of 2004. At the time, I was working in an Animal Control Clinic as a vet assistant. Entering the shelter as a stray and after having already gone through her vet exam, work-up, and being a Pet Pal candidate for adoption, it was determined that
she had been exposed to a URI from her littermate and was being held on observation for signs of illness. During those few days, I absolutely fell in love with this tiny ball of fur that would simply purr and "hug" me as I held her, not try to squirm away like most kittens.
When she began a sneezing fit, she was placed on the euthanasia list. I simply could NOT allow such a sweet heart to be lost that way. I immediately signed up for kitten fostering and she has been a bundle of laughs and a dear friend ever since!
